HJH 'CAN' Food Drive

Cans blocking Door #1  Group Effort Gathering Cans  Door #2 Blocked by Cans

Innovative Studies classes of Henrietta Junior High School hosted a canned food drive from December 4 through December 11. The goal was to collect 1,000 cans to be donated to the Clay County Mission Outreach to help with their Christmas food distribution. There was a contest between grade levels that whoever brought the most cans earned root beer floats!

On the morning of December 10, there had only been 149 cans collected. That afternoon a one-day contest called “Block the Door” was announced. The cans of food brought would be stacked in front of specific teachers' doors for each grade level. If the cans completely “blocked” the door, the students would have a free day in that class next week. The contest was a huge success and by the end of the collection on December 11, the students and staff of Henrietta Junior High School collected 2541 cans!
